The Up-the-Sleeve songs

Songs that move my heart enough that they need to be shared with others. I just happened to write some of them.

Drawn

Three candles burn bright on the windowsill
to cover red brick with fragrant wax
and bring color to these dull grey walls
that could tell years and years of tales

And I'm up later than i should be
it's a re-rerecurring theme
I've been drawn like a moth to this flame
and i cant find the words to tell myself no

I've been reminded of my own mortality
just as my youth and strength demand responsibility
for my power to destroy far overwhelms
any desire to heal

And my anger is so strong within me
it's a re-rerecurring theme
And I'm drawn like a moth to this flame
and I dont want the words to tell myself no

But i am as easily extinguished
as these candles on my windowsill
But i know your flame will burn
to mold and refine

You take away my worry and my fear
it's a re-rerecurring theme
I'm drawn like a moth to your flame
and i dont need to say no
